Inspiration

ABOUT:

"Rosie the Riveter" is a cultural icon representing the American woman working during WWII. She symbolizes the strong, independent woman of that time. -- Now, more than 70 years later, the symbol stands as strong as she. I am proud to be a woman and am grateful for other brave women before me that endured the struggle of sexism and paved the equal path to our society today.

These are the confessions, lessons learned and experiences from my life. A single, independent, strong, young professional woman living in a busy Downtown city in Northern California.

Embracing my domesticity while enjoying the freedom of being perfectly lonely.

Meet Rosie

Welcome! First let me tell you, my real name is Emily & my furbaby-son's name is Marley.

I've always been slightly-obsessed with strong women throughout history; I blame my Dad for watching the History Channel so much (thanks Dad!). I grew to love & admire strong women like Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, and eras like the 1920's rebellious flappers, the bra burners of the 1960's, and of course Rosie The Riveter of the 1940's.

I'm a 20-something California girl that loves the hustle of life. Being "busy" is my passion. Whether it's working, traveling, shopping, dancing, cooking, dating, blogging, camping (etc.), working out, or trying to plan the rest of my life, I like to be doing something (with the occasional Netflix lazy day marathon but I still consider that being "busy").

One of my favorite quotes is by John Lennon, "Life happens when you're busy making plans".

I've learned to believe in this very much. I can plan & plan but at the end of the day, unexpected things happen & I try to smile & go with the flow.

My blogging experience started in August 2012. I had recently gotten out of a long term relationship and was having trouble finding myself again. I knew the single, independent, happy me was in there but I needed to find it again. I never knew what this blog would become and honestly still don't, but I am happy writing about my adventures and even more happy that people can relate to my stories and I'm somehow helping others. Whether it be advice or just a laugh, I consider it a blessing.

I was blessed enough to grow up in a very loving home with an Angel-on-Earth mother and a very strong and opinionated father along with three brothers and one sister. It was ALWAYS a full house! Adoptive siblings (AKA all of our friends), church leaders, entire sports teams, pets, whatever it was we always had more than just the 7 of us.

If you ask my parents, they would say I've always been loud and opinionated. I was little Miss Bossy Pants. I knew that if I was quiet or reserved I would get RUN OVER. I learned at a very young age to express myself and it has shaped me to be the person I am today.

Opinions are mine. If you agree, let me know why! If you disagree, let me know why! :)
